DISCIPLINARY PROVISIONS
Panama City Swim Team is a non-profit youth swimming organization whose
mission is
“to promote youth swimming in Bay County”. We strive to provide
the best possible swim
program for our swimmers including: qualified and motivated
coaches, reasonable practice
hours and facilities and fun activities aside from swimming.
We currently have approximately 85 active
swimmers and attendance averages between
45-50 swimmers, especially on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
nights. Because our pool
time is limited, the coaches need the complete attention, cooperation
and respect of the
swimmers in order to make the practices productive. The coaches
do not have the time, nor
should they have to be bothered with swimmers that are disrupting
practice by being
disobedient, disrespectful, distracting or in any way hindering the
coaches ability to conduct
practice.
In order to continue to provide a quality swim
program and a practice environment that
allows the coaches to provide the best training possible, PCST is
establishing the following
swimmer behavior/disciplinary policy.
The coaches are in charge and in complete control of the
practice. Swimmers should come
to practice ready to swim and on time. Total respect and authority
should be given to the
coaches by the swimmers. If your swimmer is not interested in
swimming on a given night,
please do not bring them to practice for the coaches to struggle with.
If the coaches determine that a swimmer is being disrespectful, not
cooperating or in general
causing a distraction and hindering the coaches ability to coach, the
following steps will be taken:
1st Infraction – Verbal Reprimand
The swimmer will be asked to stop
the behavior and warned that if they have to be
reprimanded again during that
practice then they will be told to sit out the remainder
of the practice.
2nd Infraction During Same Practice –
Removal From Pool or Drylands
The swimmer will be removed from
drylands and/or the pool and told to wait in the bleachers
until the end of practice. A
letter will be sent to the parents summarizing what happened and
why the swimmer was removed from
practice. The parent can respond and request a meeting
with the coach and board members.
3 Incident Rule
If a swimmer is removed from drylands
and/or the pool on 3 separate occasions then the
swimmer will be removed from practice
for 30 days. A letter will be provided to the parents
documenting the occurrences and
notifying them of the removal for 30 days. After the 30 days,
the swimmer may rejoin the team after
agreeing to abide by PCST swimmer requirements.
PCST reserves the right to permanently remove a swimmer from the team
if the above actions
fail to correct the behavior problem.
