mediation. 16th Sailfish

Invitational

News-Herald Staff Report

Panama City Swim Team members Jeremy Mount and Trevor Strode dominated their respective age divisions as the hosts won the 16th annual Sailfish Invitational swim meet Sunday at Panama City Swim and Tennis Club.

PCST entered the final day of the three-day meet ahead of the Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club by 95.5 points and padded it to a 136 points Sunday.

Mount won two events Sunday, the 100-yard butterfly in 56.68 seconds and the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.79.

``He's a very determined, highly-motivated young man,'' PCST head coach Jim Bucher said. ``He sets a goal and works real hard to achieve it.''

Strode placed third in the 50-yard backstroke (20.94), fourth in the 25-yard butterfly (19.42) and fourth in 50-yard freestyle (38.94).

``He's come a long way,'' Bucher said. ``It's only his second year swimming. He's turned out to be a real good swimmer in the younger age division. He's got a lot of talent.''

Amy Guyne of PCST placed third in the Girls 13-14 200-yard freestyle (2:19.79), fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:15.53) and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:16.85).

Heather McCormick of PCST won the Girls 15-16 100-yard butterfly (1:16.96), placed second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:21.17) and third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:24.57).

Fourteen PCST swimmers have qualified for the Junior Olympic Championships, which will be held July 27-29 in Memphis, Tenn.
