PCST's McDonald earns medals in two events

Carlee McDonald, 10, of the Panama City Swim Team participated in the Southeastern Swimming Long Course Championship Meet held at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala., over the weekend. She competed in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle, the 50 and 100 backstroke, the 50 and 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley. Carlee earned medals in the 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly, finishing fourth and eighth, respectively.

Panhandle Tigers erupt in win over Louisiana

After offensive struggles their first two games of the season, the Panhandle Tigers exploded Saturday against the Louisiana Vipers en route to a 50-14 victory. The Tigers (2-1) amassed more than 400 yards of offense and the Tigers defense was dominant as well, limiting the Vipers (2-2) to one offensive touchdown.

Mosley graduate Travis Daniels was the Tigers' MVP with 163 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

R.L. Turner 14-year olds rally for win at AAU

ORLANDO - The R.L. Turner 14-year-old team rallied from a four-run deficit to beat the Brandon Bulldogs, 9-5, Monday in the first round of championship pool play at the AAU Nationals at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.

Brian Gilbert had three hits and five RBIs and Corey Hardy had three hits to lead R.L. Turner. R.C. Collins and Jay Trumbull each had two hits and William Perry drove in two runs.

Collins earned the win on the mound. Jonathon Murner and Hardy pitched in relief.

R.L. Turner faces the Des Moines (Iowa) Buzz today and the Centennial (Minn.) Cougars Wednesday.
