TEXT:Three Bay County swimmers made a splash this past weekend at the Southeastern Swimming Long Course Championships at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn.
Laura Kearns, Victoria Hove and Kevin Faulhaber represented the Panama City Swim Team Tsunamis and competed in 13 events in two age groups.
In her first championship meet, Kearns, 12, swam in six events, finishing fourth in the 100-meter freestyle. In the 100 backstroke, she jumped 18 positions to finish seventh.
Hove, 12, finished ninth in the 50 breaststroke in 41 seconds, missing eighth place by .01 seconds. She finished 14th in the 100 backstroke from the 33rd starting position.
Faulhaber, 14, finished 19th overall in the 13-14 boys division with a fourth-place finish in the 50 freestyle. The three-person team was the sixth smallest of 39 entries combining for 700 swimmers. Overall, the Tsunamis finished 24th.
